EVERYDAY WITH JESUS

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Ephesians 3:10-11

It takes time to build a relationship. There must be lots of shared memories, good and bad, to be able to have faith in a person's character. You must be able to count on them being willing to spend time and effort with you working to build a trust that will last a lifetime. Relationships are not always easy. Commitment must be at the center of every relationship. Without real commitment it is too easy to just walk away.

Our families are prime examples of relationships that take work. On our vacation this year my husband and I were able to spend some very precious uninterrupted time together. We were able to get away from distractions at home and be alone. There is a renewed intimacy in our relationship that we had been missing. Because there were no schedules to keep nor phones to answer, we were also able to draw closer as a family. The kids only had each other, so they learned to like each other again. It lasted until we got home. The phone started ringing and the schedules were pressing again. But, those memories are there. The pictures confirm it.

I know I can count on my husband and kids. They know me better than anyone on this earth and they still love me. They can put up with a lot because they trust me to love them back

It is the same way with Jesus. Our relationship with Him is so precious. He wants us to draw closer and closer to Him everyday. He wants us to know Him in the intimate way He knows His Father. Just like our relationship with our families, our relationship with Jesus takes work as well. It takes our willingness to sacrifice time, sleep, finances, friendships, whatever is standing in the way of intimacy with Jesus. We must release anything that takes priority over our knowing Jesus more intimately.

We most resemble the ones we spend time with. My husband and I are alike in a lot of ways. The kids are like us as well. Friends constantly tell me that my daughter is just like me. It is because we spend time together. I want to resemble Jesus Christ and to do that I must spend quality and quantity time with Him.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 1:17
