The short-track Olympic skaters were a new breed to me. Regular speed-skating takes stamina, but these short-tracks have more turns than straight away. Legs fly at great speed for a few strokes, then bodies lean into a glide around fast curves. There is no room for error. The Canadian skater was favored, but on the last lap his skates slid out from under him on a turn, and with him went one of the other racers.
Life is one big fast-track. I rush everywhere, trying to fit in all the good things, all the necessary things, and some of the unnecessary things too. And just when I think I have it going good, someone cuts in on me and keeps me from obeying the truth.
A word of truth catches up with me...in John 14:6, Jesus says "I am the way and the truth and the life." Truth is a person - Jesus! If I begin my mornings with Jesus, I will know the truth. If I catch my breath with Jesus during the day, I will be reminded of the truth.
If I run a good race, and obey the truth, it is because I am keeping pace with you, Jesus. No one can cut in!
