Full Responsibility

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. Ephesians 3:20

My husband grew up as the preacher's kid and lived across the street from the church. When he was fourteen, several of his friends wanted to come over and play basketball in the church parking lot. It was after dark, but with his "inside information", he knew how to turn on the outside lights. When he did so several of the guys asked if they would get in trouble for it. He confidently replied, "It's okay. I'll accept full responsibility."

We laugh about it now and make jokes about accepting "full responsibility". Why does it sound so funny to us as adults? Because we realize that a fourteen year old boy does not have the authority or the ability or the power to accept responsibility for something like that.

I once read a plaque that said, "God is ready to accept full responsibility for the life totally yielded to Him." I don't laugh when I read this. What's the difference? God does have the authority and power and ability to accept responsibility for our lives. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He told His disciples, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." (Matthew 28:18) When we yield to His authority, He has the power to work on our behalf in all the circumstances of our life. I would rather be in the hands of God than the hands of the most responsible person on earth! Wouldn't you?

Are you yielded, surrendered, to God? Are there areas of your life you haven't totally given to Him yet? ...that you're still holding on to? Let go, my friend. He is able to care for you. He is ready to assume full responsibility for your life if you will yield it to Him.
