The strong white cotton thread of a quilt holds three layers of fabric together. Likewise, the thread with which I stitch my days binds the fabric of my life to God, through Jesus.
Life's thread is finely woven of many strands - of quiet time in prayer or a sweet sacrifice of worship, of love in action or daily obedience to God's word - all twisted together by the fruit of the Spirit growing in me.
The quality of my stitching is as varied as my daily walk. On the right side of my quilt you cannot see my handiwork for all the colorful patches, but turn the quilt over to the plain white surface of the backing and each stitch is visible. Some are uneven or out of line, while some didn't even make it to the back. Some are small, tiny, precise, good. On those days the Spirit deftly guided my needle through to God.
If I would choose to put the needle of my day into the hands of God's Spirit every morning, think how the stitches would ease through Jesus to follow the lines of God's pattern.
