Salt was used by Jesus to demonstrate three qualities that we as Christians should possess:
1. It is a reminder of God's faithfulness to us just like it was to Israel to remind them of their covenant with God.
2. Salt changes the flavor of meat. We should also make a difference in the flavor of the world around us.
3. Salt was used to preserve food from spoiling. Likewise we can counteract moral decay by desiring to salt the world with God's message.
The next time you are at a restaurant or in your home and someone says "Please pass the salt," Consider this an opportunity to do one or all of the above.
