Psalm 18:36
"You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn."
"Slip-sliding-along," goes the old song!
We expected the ground to be all dry and cracked down there in the canyon, but the snows of a week ago had left a muddy mess in the lower lying areas. In spots it was more like skating on mud, if you know what I mean. On one down-slope, I completely lost my footing, and my dignity, and came up covered with that indelible red color.
There are unexpected things in my path, even if I am travelling it with Jesus. Sometimes little rocks of frustration trip me up. At other times the commonplace things of the world suck me into a veritable mud bath.
I am intrigued to read this verse. Jesus will broaden that path for me, to go around the treacherous rocks. Or at the very least, He will keep my ankles from turning when I slide through the mud.
Jesus is The Way, and He makes my way broader...
