Season your Speech with Salt

"Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again. It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile, it is thrown out." Luke 14:34, 35
Salt can lose its flavor. It gets wet and then dries, it becomes tasteless.
Likewise, as Christians, we can lose our witness to others when we blend into the world. If we don't stand up for Jesus, our speech is not seasoned with salt. Therefore, our witness is worthless. This happened to Lot when he lived in Sodom. He blended into the immoral culture of his surroundings. He lost his witness.
Salt flavors and preserves food. Christians should preserve the name of Jesus to the world. In order to accomplish this we have to be willing to make sacrifices, plan and be totally committed to Christ.
Although not an easy task, being salty allows us to represent Christ to the world. Your world includes your home, your workplace and your community for starters. Opportunities to season your speech with the message of Jesus occur daily. Become aware of the moments that you can sprinkle a little salt and bring flavor to life.
How salty are you?
