Where is the salt?

"Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all of your offerings." Leviticus 1:14

My friend, Margaret (Midge for short), and her family spent the weekend with us recently. Saturday afternoon we decided to entertain a group of mutual friends. Midge is a great cook and loves to make seafood gumbo. So as the roux blackened and the broth boiled, we enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship in the kitchen. Anyone who walked in the kitchen was handed a spoon and requested to taste the broth. "Not enough salt" was the common response. "Where's the salt?" asked Midge. She added more salt upon each request to enhance the flavor until it was just right.

In the Old Testament, offerings were seasoned with salt to remind God's people of their covenant or contract with him. Salt is a symbol of God's work in someone's life. Salt penetrates, preserves and helps in the healing process.

Likewise, God wants to be involved in your life. Allow him to be involved in your daily activities. When he is part of you, he can penetrate every aspect of your life. He protects you and he heals your sins and shortcomings.

Add spiritual salt to your life to enhance God's work in all that you do this week.
