"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
A work of art has a purpose...
Michelangelo's art drew man's eye,
elicited sighs of admiration,
even pointed some to God in frequent religious connotation,
yet of nature, man to marble, no significant relation,
except that connection an artist molds
into his inanimate creation.
I am connected to my Creator by His pure, lifegiving breath,
by His son's lifegiving death.
Not marble nor fresco, my human surface
lives and breathes to do good,
God's purpose.
To do good works
which God has readied in advance,
an eager glance
in solitude with Him, at every chance
prepares my heart to know the good to do.
His masterpiece, I work His good anew.
My purpose then, as God's work of art, is to do good works. I stick close to Jesus to know what these good works are.
