"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus"
Michelangelo was the great master sculptor. Perhaps his most famous work is the magnificent marble statue of "David", in Florence. His portrayal of David, waiting with sling-shot for the giant Goliath, shows not only the perfection of human anatomy, but also creates a sense of body movement, generated by emotion. It took Michelangelo two and a half years to complete this masterpiece.
God created man in The Garden in part of a day. He had no need for chisel and marble. Just the dust of the ground and the breath of life. His model was Himself. That should have been masterpiece enough.
But when the need arose, when redemption became imperative, God created man again, only this time "in Christ Jesus". Man alone was not good enough. But man, in a saving relationship with the Christ, would be God's masterpiece, a veritable work of art!
The mighty "David" pales. I am God's true masterpiece...
